A local dentistry is giving away free mouthguards if an appointment is made. It can take as little as one day to make a mouthguard that suits your mouth perfectly. It is very important to get this tool for sports. You would not want to risk getting a tooth knocked out, especially when picture day is right around the corner. The types of injuries that you can get are chipped and broken teeth, fracture crowns or bridgework, lip and cheek injuries, root damage to the teeth, fractured jaws, and concussions. According to Dr. Rejman of Meadow Orthodontics, over 200,000 mouth injuries per year can be prevented simply with the help of a mouthguard.

Some of our high school students stepped out for an interview with us. Junior Class President, Carson King, commented,”Even though I didn’t get to play in the game, I was excited to see all of our work pay off.” Despite his broken ankle, he still goes to every game to support the team. He liked the first game the best because he felt it got the team’s nerves out.

Another student we interviewed was player number 7, Cooper Duffin. When asked why he liked playing football, he said he enjoyed the “competitiveness” of the game.”I got my mouthguard at Walmart, it was like 90 cents,” he mentioned when asked about his equipment. Those mouthguards are always going to be available, but they may not be as protective or as affordable as the ones that are offered at Smile Makers.
