What is sleep? Sleep is a condition of body and mind such as that which typically recurs for several hours every night, in which the nervous system is relatively inactive, the eyes closed, the postural muscles relaxed, and consciousness practically suspended.
Sleep is so important for us, but we don’t realize all the benefits it has for us.
First of all, sleep reduces stress. I know everyone has some kind of stress in their lives, especially with COVID-19 lingering around, so going to bed can help you renew your body and cleanse any clog you may have.
Next, sleep makes you more alert. I am the worst at going to bed on time and it really shows the next day. I’m lazy and don’t want to do anything because of the lack of sleep I get. It’s especially bad for when I go to school because I’m there to receive an education but I’m not learning too much if I’m sleeping in class. When you get more sleep you can actually gain knowledge and participate. It will help you not fall behind.
For me personally, I noticed when I get enough sleep I’m just a happier person in general. I feel on top of the world when I wake up refreshed and I actually get things done in the day. Like who doesn’t like not feeling happy? Honestly, it’s just a great feeling because when you’re happy you’re just feeling yourself, and you just skip along with life.
At the beginning of quarantine, I was a mess. Staying up till 3 am and not getting out of bed until like 12 pm. Because of this, I would skip breakfast and lunch because it felt weird eating lunch right when I woke up. It really messed with my routine and I started falling behind in school because I lacked alertness. I finally got my crap together and I’ve noticed a big difference. Also eating food is super important because it kind of helps you survive, so when I started waking up earlier and not skipping meals, I had a huge change in energy.
Lastly, sleep helps you contain the knowledge and strengthens your mind. It really comes in handy when you’re at school. I also heard that if you study before going to bed, it helps you remember whatever you are studying easier.
Even though I’m staying up late to write this (haha pretty ironic, huh?) just take my advice and go to bed early. You will notice drastic changes and feel totally different (in a good way). *yawns* ahh look at the time, GOODNIGHT! Zzz
