Kids need to have more time to eat lunch. We are so hungry and we never have enough time. The lunch is only 40 minutes long and kids spend about 20 minutes standing in line. Researchers have found that to get enough calories students need at least 20 minutes to sit and eat because it takes time to eat, shoving it down your throat is not eating. They also need time to socialize with friends and stuff.

By the time some students get to the front of the line, all the food is gone or the lunch workers cannot serve you anymore. Teenage kids need about 2200 to 2800 calories and all we get fed is 500 to 1000. That is why kids are still hungry after lunch. Most kids do not even bother eating because they do not have time for the little snacks they call LUNCH. The lunches do not give us the energy we need and kids get grumpy and tired when they do not eat all the calories they need.

Kids do not want to waste their lunch time standing in a line that backs all the way out the door; there is no point in it. Kids need more time to get lunch to eat and socialize. I think that they should give us at least an extra 15 to 20 minutes, then we can just stay at school a little bit longer, eat enough calories to learn and have time to socialize with friends.
