Many people around the world are gluten free and not too many people know much about this specific diet.

This November is gluten free awareness month, and for many people all around the world being gluten free, others seem to not know too much about this diet.

Gluten is a certain protein found in wheat that some people’s bodies don’t really agree with.

About 5% of the population are gluten intolerant or are allergic to gluten.

“Some people think that just because you are allergic to gluten you can’t have any wheat,” Melinda Keller said.

In some cases people are allergic to wheat and gluten, but they are not the same thing.

While gluten is a certain protein, wheat is a grain that is grown almost just like grass.

Studies show that 747 million metric tons of wheat are consumed world wide.

Because the world and many of the people in it consume that much wheat, when people say that they are gluten intolerant or wheat intolerant, many are astonished.

“When you first start the diet it’s hard at first, but then you get used to it and you don’t need gluten anymore,” Keller said. 

Many symptoms can occur if you are gluten or wheat intolerant and you decide to eat some.

Some of the reactions can be, rashes, stomach pain, redness of skin, etc.

But many people find that when they get those symptoms and then cut wheat or gluten out of their diets they feel a lot better.

“My stomach doesn’t hurt anymore, I feel healthier,” Keller said.

Many bad things can come from eating wheat like a higher cholesterol level, different blood sugar level, and even a higher blood pressure. 

Some people find that cutting wheat out of their diet is important for their specific body condition, and is exactly what they feel like is best for them.
